If you have a web host that includes fantastico, then you better use it. It took me less than 5 minutes to install joomla and it was really very easy.

And if you dont have fantastico included , then its , ummm, not that easy.
But still,
I will give you a few

Open a web browser and type this:
www.yourdomainname.com/installations

Put your url instead of yourdomainname above.

When you do that and type enter.
A page will be displayed which will take you through the installation process.
First there will be a preinstallation check , where you would check to see if all the permissions are set correctly or not. After you have done that , you will be take to the license page, and you can even read it if you want to.

Next would be step 1--- here you give your host name and mysql database details.

step 2-- Enter name of your web site
step 3 -- Enter some more details of your site
step 4--- Hec, this is not actually a step. Because you have already finished installing joomla.
So, just write down your username and password, that is displayed in step 4.

Now you can go and view the site also. Simple, isnt it.

I hope this helps.

If you need more detailed step by step instructions, then go to http://www.squidoo.com/building-a-joomla-website/ where I have more detailed instructions on going further in the joomla site building process.

bye,
faraz

If you just want to test out Joomla to see if it can do what you want, try creating a demo CD as outlined in the link posted below.

This will create a bootable CD that runs Joomla without having to install anything.

Another option is to find a web host that offers it as part of a standard installation.

Hope that helps a little.

You must have a webhost running php and MySQL. Then you upload the scripts and run the install script. Joomla can be a monster because it does a lot, so plan to spend some time getting to know all it does before you start adding content.

It will be a lot easier for you if you find a webhost with Fantastico. It is an app that will automatically install Joomla for you.
