My most amazing astronomy fact is that we can detect the light that came from the big bang. It is only a few degrees above absolute zero but is the strongest evidence for the universe being created in a big bang approximately 15 billion years ago.

My astronomy fact came from my astronomy TA who was doing research on deep space objects. Anyways, she needed to use the big telescope on top of that extinct volcano in Hawaii in order to do he research properly. Now the altitude of the lab where they punch in the numbers is some rediculous height like 4 200 meters above sea level. Its so high in fact, that they have to vent in oxygen into the lab so that people don't pass out. There are lots of masks and tanks of O2 around just in case people feel queasy. The neat astronomy fact is that you can normally see more stars as you go higher up in altitude but at this altitude you actually see less stars because there isn't enough oxygen for your brain to register what your eyes are seeing. So my TA got the bright idea of using one of the outside O2 tanks to boost her blood-oxygen levels and behold - a wondrous view of the heavens - followed by a run inside to the retching can and O2 mask as she almost passed out.

I was trying to explain to one of my nieces how big the sun actually is and I came up with this gem :
If you drove at a constant speed of 100 mph it would take almost a year [ 360 days] to drive around the Sun while at the same speed it would take 10.5 days to drive around the Earth . Amazing

The most amazing astrology "fact" I've heard is that some people still believe in astrology even though it was proved hundreds of years ago that it is a load of codswallop.

If you mean astronomy, the most amazing fact is that that blur of light in the sky known as the Milky Way is actually millions of stars.

That how the universe was created, all the stars shotout in a "stick man" pattern, looking like people!!! its soo interesting that most people dont talk about it, but its a HUGE theory and is almost becoming a fact, there still studying!

I think the most amazing thing is that many of the elements in our bodies, the very atoms themselves, were created in supernova explosions. We could not be alive today if some star had not exploded in the past.

As Carl Sagan put it, "We are star stuff."

As an example, zinc is an essential trace element for nutrition in humans. The only way to make atoms of zinc is in a supernova explosion.

Oooooo...far out.

There are no facts when you are talking about 'astrology', because it is considered psuedo science. If you are talking about 'astronomy' then that is a different story. Nothing amazes me when we are talking about the universe, even the fact that there are stars 7000 times larger than our own sun, because everything is relative.

The speed of light. Truly incredible and then being not nearly enough speed for us to reach the next star in a lifetime even if we had the latest technology to do so.

I think you mean astronomy, right? In that case, I think the coolest thing I know is how you can use the gravitational pull of different planets as a slingshot for spacecraft to go very very fast.

If you mean "astrology" then the fact that people would believe such a silly idea is probably the most amazing thing.

If you mean "astronomy", I think just the size of the universe is mind-blowing.
