I'm a teen myself and everytime i ask a question and leave my age i dont get many replies. Then if i do ask a question and don't leave my name, loads of people reply back to me.
I asked a few minutes ago if anyone would like to be my friend on here and the adults just said.....u r too young and dont get into trouble. If i didn't leave my age i bet lots of people, including adults would be replying to me! This is ageism!!
Plus, i think adults are stereotypical of youth anyway. Adults think all teens smoke, drink and steal, but sorry, are we forgetting about the crime already reducing in the U.K.? And adults smoke, steal and drink too!
what do u think about hoodies being banned? I think it's appalling, dont judge us by our clothes, we are not all drug addicts!
By the way, speeding is the biggest crime, and this is done by adults!

There is and has been for some time what is called a generation gap. Young people and older people dont seem to communicate anymore, the young do their thing and the elders do what they like to do.
I can remember a time in the past when everyone enjoyed themselves, the old and the young mixed freely, went out together and in general respected each other. Young people then would borrow there parents clothes to go out in, nobody batted an eyelid about it.
Everything has changed now and I think its for the worse, but not to worry, that's progress for you.
Of course there are a lot of decent young people out there, I know quite a lot but if I asked them to go out with me for a night out they would think I was crazy, as I say the adults keep to the old ways and the young obviously stay with the modern era.
Hope I have explained the answer well enough to you.
Take care, good luck

Jennifer, I for one, I dont know about other adults but me personally I have no problem with teens. I was a teen once ( wish I was again lol ). I am now 59 and have no argument with todays teens at all. Actually I admire them for the things they are going through at the moment. They cant get work because they have no experience, therefore they are refused benefits etc.. I have no problem at all with you or any of your friends, I just dont like the teens that frighten old people thats all. For hoodies no they shouldnt be banned, when I was a kid we wore snorkel jackets and they covered more of your face than hoods. Wish I was your age now and wear what you wear, I was a sixties teen and it was boring. Well love you got one supporter here.

Firstly if you asked a question 'who wants to be your friend' -adults aren't going to be friends with a teen because there are insinuations attached to that.We know that not all teenagers smoke/drink etc...some teenagers are great individuals who contribute a lot to society (our 16yr old Daughter included).
As far as hoodies being banned,it's ridiculous-we're a couple in our 30's and we wear hoodies sometimes and if we were banned from somewhere we would be writing to our M.P.
You sound like a good, mature teen but unfortunately most people on this site are adults and would feel uncomfortable being friends with a teen-please don't take it personally, and keep on being who you are-you sound nice!

Most adults have no problem with teens. The fact that you are teens makes you rebel against just about everything and peer pressure makes you smoke and drink and poss use recreational drugs. Then after that you mature and accept that being an adult is the norm ! and stop being a rebel and enjoy life . Drive fast drink some and use a little drugs earn some money and realise that life is great both for young and old alike there ain't much difference between them folks . I am 50 but have not changed since my 20s. I love young people they keep me young . Ya know that " grow up thing " its bull

My siblings are teenagers. I used to hang out with them and their friends more than I did with people my own age. So, I don't have anything against them.
Although, I do think that teenagers you see in a public place are more likely to make fun of someone that they feel has a physical flaw. Adults tend to keep their comments to themselves.
I think the reason a lot of adults don't want to be friends with teenagers is because they are afraid it will look bad. A lot of creepy people go on the internet looking for younger "friends" - and if you aren't one of those people, you sure don't want anyone to think you are one of those people.
Plus, most adults probably feel they won't have anything in common with a teenager.

I responded to your previous question, commenting on your youth. Purely because i have a tendency to go for "adult humour " .
And given your age of 15, wouldn`t seem very appropriate for the likes of me and ilk to bombard you with it !
Sorry, not ageism, just appropriateness !

After reading some of the questions and answers left here by teens, some of us tend not to take them seriously.
I know this is unfair, but it's fact.
And yes, you're right it is ageism which is just as wrong as racism.
Don't give up on us we'll mature.

I don't mean to be patronising but when your an adult all will become clear , i thought the same as you at your age, people are not putting you down when they say your too young they are just trying to protect you from people who use sites like this for all the wrong reasons.

a) Because you're always protesting about something like this
b) Because you remind us of ourselves when we were your age and it's embarrassing
c) Because you remind us of ourselves at your age and it's depressing how old and sad we now are
d) Because some people were miserable sods when they were young and they've just become worse with age - only now they are proud of being "mature" as well as fat, sad and gittish
Take your pick.
I don't care how old you are, if I see a good question I'll answer it, if I see a dumb question I'll abuse you.
This was an okay question so you get a bit of both.
