There used to be a few odd stores here and there, but I haven't seen one in a really long time. That's too bad because I liked that place when I was in the U.K. Shoppers is O.K., but I'd like to have a bit of variety, and I'd like to get some of those British goods for a change. I'm sure there's the customer base for a few Boots scattered in the major cities.

They were a franchise operation and broken down into regions across the country. There was established distribution centers, built in client base and a chain that became stale was ripe for a complete takeover. That's what happened, they did not go out of business, a few went independent and remained Boots for a time, but most of the pharmacist owners retired and the name died as a result.

Boots restructured after some bad financial results a few years back and that might be the reason they closed Boots stores in Canada. They are alive and well in England though.
