Frats and sororities can be a very good thing. Use your membership wisely. Join for the right reasons. You will gain life-long friends and contacts. Enjoy the experience. I was in a sorority and have never regretted it. I still have friends from the house and we keep in touch and socialize monthly.

It depends on the frat. Some are good and some are bad. Just make sure you do your research before joining one. From my experience most people that I know that joined a frat became addicted to the frat. Every weekend they always had to do something with the frat so im going to assume you need a lot of time and dedication. Anyway, its up to you. I say choose one that encourages hardwork and a good gpa rather than a party frat.

both- it's nice to be with people who you share common likes and goals- it can be bad if activities overrun you and take up too much time
