I need to write a paper on how The Great Gatsby exemplifies modern culture.
ok this is it but it doesnt sound right to me:
In The Great Gatsby, Fitsgerald goes away from traditional literature by writing about characters and thier luxurius but empty lifestyle.

F.Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" exemplifies modern culture greatly in the fact that its characters are too concerned with material gain to realize how terrible their lives have become, in much the same way many people are today with the struggle for wealth at any cost.

That sounds good! You can also try: "In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald deviates from the styles of traditional literature by contrasting the characters' luxourius yet hollow lifestyles"
