this is an interesting question that i will try to answer in a very common sense method.

the confusion lies in conscious human understanding of time as a linear entity ( "timeline" ).

modern physical theory is NOT consistent with this model for reasons beyond the scope of your question.

instead, understand "time" as a conscious perception of your mind. the "past" then implies only memories of events in your brain and nothing else. the "future" however, is an open-ended possibility of experience that your mind will come to have.

if you think about it this way, you will come to realize that it is possible to "travel" into the future by some method in order to have "that" futuristic experience. NOTE however that is impossible to travel into the past because the past is only a bunch of memories ! ( it doesnt actually exist whereas the "future" has the "possibility" of existing ! )

hope i answered your question. needless to say there are many other more scientific explanations that support this view.

No, you'd still have paradoxes.

Bottom line: there is no reason to think time travel is possible, and there are many reasons to think it is not .

Once you allow one impossible thing, you got to allow them all.

If we could time travel, then ... my dog could talk.
If we could time travel, then ... I would be rich.
If we could time travel, then ... there would be peace on Earth.
