You should listen to the Tea Party. They're rock, but not metal or hard rock. Its good music, and it will stay in your head for days. Try the cd Transmission by the Tea Party. I hope you enjoy it.

Cocteau Twins - they are certainly between the innovators of the style Dream Pop. plenty of their music touches upon pop, goth, positioned up-punk, new wave, and shoegaze. Elizabeth Fraser has between the main appealing voices I certainly have ever heard. surely advised. Wolf Eyes - this is seen noise. they are from Michigan and that i've got seen them thrice. maximum of their shows take places in random stoner's basements or under mexican eating places. you may unlike this in the past each little thing hear, although that's honestly exceedingly interesting to hearken to what is going on and how they are making their "noise." Can - VERY marvelous band from the 70's that become seen Krautrock. They mixed each type of diverse genres at the same time, like jazz, psychedelic, paintings rock, etc. only hear to Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi or destiny Days each of how by using and you would be surprised. My Bloody Valentine - probably my all time renowned band. exceedingly plenty invented shoegaze. each little thing via them is easily perfect. listening to them makes you experience such as you're in some form of realm the place each little thing is gentle and colourful. i don't be attentive to. hear to their album Loveless and probably you will understand.

If you want 'unpopular', I suggest MySpace. While I strongly dislike the Myspace scene, they have a huge array of bands and singers who have set up accounts. Two that I really like that I found there are Architecture in Helsinki, and Emmy the Great (links attached).

(I say 'unpopular' in the scene of indie music as opposed to mainstream)

Sorry, I didn't see that you didn't like metal till this page.
Why no metal? Metal IS GOD!
Seriously though, metal is awesome. Try bands like Trivium, Unearth, Pro-pain, All that remains, Hammerfall and Hoobastank.
These are all heavy, but in different ways.
Please, give metal a chance.

The new John Mellencamp CD, Freedom Road. 80's-type rock, kind of country-like in sound. One song, "This is our Country", was used for the Ford comercial. Really, any Classic Rock is good.
