book- frodo has the ring 4 years before setting off for mordor
movie- as soon as he gets it, he's forced to go to mordor
book- he sees saruman in the shire upon returning from mordor
movie- he doesn't seen saruman ever!!!

I think Frodo is portrayed very well in the movies, although there are some differences between the movies and the book, the essence of the character remains the same. I think the fact that Frodo is a flawed character makes him more believable.

Frodo is homosexual in the book, they omitted that in the movie.
