another one of Wilt Chamberlains records

Averaging 48.5 minutes for an entire season

Just about every unbreakable NBA record is held by Wilt.

100 points in a game

55 rebounds in a game

50.4 points per game for a season

27.2 rebounds per game for a season

48.5 min/game during a season ...Wilt was ejected with 8 minutes to go in one game in 1962, and those were the only 8 minutes he sat out all season...he played several overtime periods, and ended up averaging 48.5 min/game, even though a regulation game is only 48 min long. No one's touching that record. Wilt played every second of each of the other 79 games that year.

The last one would be impossible for anyone to break today. No player in history had Wilt's stamina (on or off the court).

I guess you could say that one day, someone might get incredibly hot and score 100... but I doubt it.

But I will guarantee that NO ONE is ever going to average OVER 48 min/game for an entire season. If someone plays 40 min in one game today, the announcers will treat him like some kind of ironman.

EDIT: Looks like a lot of us are referring to Wilt's records in this question.

EDIT: Malice, good job mentioning AC Green's consecutive game record. That's a good one, although I don't necessarily agree with it. In baseball, Lou Gehrig's 2,130 game streak was considered for decades to be unbreakable, because later players didn't have that kind of dedication...then along came Cal Ripken.

Consecutive game streaks can be broken if a player has the right combination of
(1) luck
(2) determination and
(3) the ability to play with pain

Because human characteristics like determination and the ability to play with pain can be applied to breaking it, I think that consecutive game playing streaks are vulnerable to being broken...but it's obvious that it wouldn't be broken by an ordinary individual, a player who broke that record would have to be exceptional in the areas I just mentioned.

Wilt's documents are extremely between the main unbreakeable documents in all activities(80 one factors is plenty from 100points). yet for me, the main unbreakeable record could be Wilt's minutes in line with activity standard in the process the 'sixty one-'sixty two season: 40 8.5MPG. A regulation basketball activity is merely 48mins. yet another much less properly commonplace Wilt record may be the reality that he didnt fouled out on any NBA activity that he performed.

I think the 100 points record will be broken EVENTUALLY by SOMEONE. The 72-10 bulls record might even be broken THIS year. The 50 points a game record is just unbreakable though.

I am going to say that the single season scoring average is going to be on that will stay in the record books forever. Wilt Chamberlain has that record at 50.4 along with his scoring points in a game with 100 will not be broken either in a long time from now or ever

I happen to think Wilt's 55 rebound record is the most untouchable (but many of his are nearly as tough). For team records gotta go with Boston's 11 titles in 13 years. As for a non-Wilt individual record, i'm going with Robertson's triple-doubles (around 180, i think).

i like the quad-double.. who was that???
ACTUALLY there were 4 people who acheived the quad-double:
Nate Thurmond, 22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 blocks
Alvin Robertson, 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 steals
Hakeem Olajuwon, 18 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists, 11 blocks
David Robinson, 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 blocks

but along the same line; how about just a simple triple-double:
no one will get close to the big "O" @ 181 (magic is a close second and kidd only has 85... no one...)

and only one person has ever accoplished the double-triple-double (20 of each in three categories)
wilt did it:
22 points, 25 rebounds, and 21 assists

Boston Celtic's 11 titles in 13 years! and that's for a team....how about 11 rings and 10 fingers of Bill Russell?

I'd guess there are individual stats that will probably never be broken.
Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points in one game...
Wilt's NBA season average of 50.4 points per game...
Wilt's most 50 point games in one season - 45...
Wilt's most consecutive 50 point games - 7...
Wilt's most consecutive 40 point games - 14...
Wilt's most consecutive 30 point games - 65...
Wilt's career stat of 22.9 rebounds per game...
Wilt's 2,000+ rebounds in a season... TWICE!
Wilt's 55 rebounds in one game...

Most of those records will never, ever be broken. And they call MJ the 'best ever'... ;)

Also, AC Green's consecutive games played - 1,192!

thats an easy pick...11 titles in 13 years for one player with one team, bill russells celtic teams...that and 100 points by wilt...never again will a team get on a run like that...no one has ever or will ever get close...it is hard to imagine that it would have been 12 except bill injured an ankle in game 3 of one of those finals (which they lost)...
