It depends on how often you're going to utilize the computer.well i would get one of the latest computers with Windows Vista( the latest operating system from Windows). If you want a computer where you want to store a lot of videos, photos, music, and games, i would get a computer with a big hard drive. Try to also find one with a lot of RAM so you can run programs much faster, myb a computrer with 4GB RAM. check out best buy, they have a great selection of fast computers w/ big hard drives

Here is what you want
Step 1 ...Intel® Coreâ¢2 Duo Processor E6600 (4MB L2 Cache,2.4GHz,1066 FSB) Always remember that Intel is better than the rest of CPU available today. Also note that faster the CPU, faster your PC will run.
Step 2 .....2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs. Note that RAM allows your computer do more things faster.
Step 3... 500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache... Note that the bigger your hard drive is, the more it can store Data.
Step 4... Dual Drives: 48x Combo + 16x DVD+/-RW w/ dbl layer write capable... The drivers read and burn anything.
Step 5... 20 inch UltraSharp⢠2007WFP Widescreen Digital Flat Panel... The bigger the screen, the more enjoyable it is to play games and do video editing.
Step 6... 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS... Note that a GPU ( Graphic Card is VERY important to your PC.
O/S XP Pro
Hope it helps!
Master J.

Hello, my ID is Dell Tech, a trained technician at Dell.
If you want a very fast, good desktop, you need a very fast CPU... I highly recommend Dell XPS 410 if you don't have a lot of money to spend...
With the Dell XPS 410 desktop, you get Intel® Coreâ¢2 Duo Processor E6700 (4MB L2 Cache,2.66GHz,1066 FSB
Always remember that RAM ( memory) is very important, so you get 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs
HHD is very important. The bigger your HHD is, the faster it runs and holes data, so you get 500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cacheâ¢
Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write
Everybody likes big screen, so you also get 20 inch E207WFP Widescreen Digital Flat Panel [Included in Price]
And since such specification is extreme, you now can play 99% of all available games out there with the 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS Video Card.
You have a great day.

something with a duel core processor of about 2.5Gb and a lot or ram preferably ddr2 with a bus speed of around 500 meg, around 2Gb of ram should do it as well as a graphics card with at least 256Mb of memory on board that should be fast

Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB DDR2 RAM... that should do it. If you're a gamer you might want to consider a high-end graphics card too.

In regards to the guy that posted "here is what you want" I would put (2) 320GB SATA hard drives in a RAID 0 config. Other than that it looks good.
