They were white, and there were as many of them in Russia as there were slaves in America. Ever hear of indentured servants? Ever hear about European history? Go and rent a move called "Gangs of New York". It's set in the 1860's, historically accurate, and shows the Irish living in a horrific, lawless slum, worse than anything Black Americans have ever had to endure. In fact, it shows that most black New Yorkers were considerably better off than the Irish at that point.

What you seem to leave out,is the post treatment of those people.It is the post treatment of the former slaves in America where many of the brutalities are recorded. During the actual slave period,they were too valuable a commodity to abuse,even being protected by law.Not so after slavery was aborted and Jim Crow was introduced.Now it's time for you to go back and do some more studying. Don't be so quick to dismiss other peoples family stories of personal suffering.
