Benjamin Franklin--Franklin discovered electricity, and we thank him for that. But very few people know that Ben also helped write the Declaration of Independence, and that he was the founder of the Pennsylvania Gazette, which he published in 1728. Also, Franklin started the Philadelphia Academy. Ben is also the reason we can roast turkeys on Thanksgiving, ham on Christmas, and everything else we cook to eat. The reason is Ben Franklin made the Franklin stove. The Franklin stove was the first machine used to cook with out using an open fire.

Martin Luther King, Jr--Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia on Jan. 15, 1929. At the age of 15, he entered Morehouse College. In 1954, he became pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. When Rosa Parks was arrested in 1955 for not giving up her seat to a white person, leaders formed a group to do a bus boycott. They wanted King to be president. When they did the boycott, the bus company lost so much money they had to make law that nobody has to give up their seat to somebody - white or black. King is probably most famous for the narch on Washington where he gave his " I Have a Dream " speech. He is also famous for winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 .
