You sound like you are in a long term relationship. Ultimately everyone gets to that point where they have to decide if this is what they want for the rest of their life. I respect that he at least had the balls to tell you as opposed to doing crap on the side. I would take the time to evaluate everything as well and you might find out that you might have some issues as well. The problem is that he had time to think before he broke the news to you and you are just caught off guard. You need some space to think. Don't be reactive, be proactive by being alone to decide what it is YOU WANT, and NOT WHAT HE CAN/CANT PROVIDE

It's always the same thing assuming nothing like cheating is going on:
Your partner's interest level is dropping.
What makes you a potentially more interesting partner?
1. Class.
2. Grooming & appearance.
3. Manners.
4. Good Attitude.
5. Respect for others and yourself.
6. Discipline
7. Confidence
8. A reasonable degree of self-reliance (a dependent is a burden).
9. You are just generally interesting (you have to keep growing)
The hard part is... knowing his interest level has dropped, it's a bit hard to remain Confident, huh?
It's easier to maintain a relationship than it is to do a cleanup job--Good luck to you.

I think that whole "find yourself" thing is a load of crap. Relationships where there is love and a bond work through things together and grow together - there is no need to breakup and "see what happens." He wants his cake and eat it too - he figures if you break up and he dates other people, if he doesn't find someone as good then he has you to come back to. Talk to him and let him know how you feel, but if I was you I wouldn't wait around forever for someone like that.

well, you dont say how long you have been together...if you are in the first year then the honeymoon period is over and things are settling into a 'normalish' relationship, and these feelings are normal.if you have been together for a long time then...perhaps they feel more in a rut than you...or perhapsd they want to do more things and dont know how to broach the subject ...if you get what i mean...
try openly talking...if they have been open then i guess it's time that you did too..try telling them what you have posted here instead of asking advice on a website try talking

If your partner is "on the fence", as they say, it may be time for you to move on. It is emotionally unfair to have to wait for him to grow up, or determine if he wants to be with you. You are worth more than that. Grieve a little over the relationship, move on, and discover you a bit more. You'll find that if it's meant to be, it will be. If not, at least you have not wasted more of your precious time and energy. Good luck and God bless.

How old is he? May be a mid-life crisis. Usually happens in the late 30's to late 40's. And wait how long? Maybe you need to separate and he'll find how much he loves and misses you!

tell him if he will tell you where he lost himself, you will help him find him. people that use these nonsensical lines of crap have always bothered me, I have never had them used on me but they sound selfish to me. you want your space, don't let the door hit you in the ***. don't play like you are hanging on for my sake. just make sure what you think you want is what you want, there is no looking back, and I would never pick up the phone and call them. some people are stubborn as hell, I am one of them. I would rather die than let someone manipulate me because of my feelings for them. people gotta be tougher.

Well, it depends on how much time you are willing to "give away" to allow him to clarify his own mind. Give yourself the time frame you consider reasonable and stick to it. It is only worth to wait him make up his mind if you are not hurting yourself and your chances of finding someone else who might be more compatible with you in the long run. Good luck!
