this morning in first period i was spinning a rifle and while throwing a quad it hit the floor, then bounced and the barrel end [fat part known as the butt] hit my toe. from then on i havent been able to walk very well on it. when i got home i took my polish off and found out that at where the nail reaches the nail it is a bruised purple blue color.

i showed my mom and she said it looks like its going to fall off [just in time for summer] and she said i should drill a hole in it with the hand drill from my petacure kit. she said it would get rid of alot of pressure in my toe.

so i did it took a while but i did. this is really nasty but i was turning it and all of a sudden i felt a pop like popping a pimple and blood started gushing everywhere! it was so nasty! [it did help alot though]

so im left in a sperry and rainbow and have gaurd practice and a compitition to go to. my dad says to ice it the heat it, but i dont realy know if that would help so what should i do to help it

Keep it clean, use an antiseptic gel and wrap it in a bandage to keep the dirt off it. It should heal by itself, and if the nail is going to fall off, it'll do so without any pain (apart from the hurt of having a wound on your toe). Should do so within a week and might fall off with the bandage. Just don't rip it out, because it might actually not be damaged enough for it to fall out by itself and might have to grow out slowly.

The new nail will grow back eventually. I lost a toe nail and that one grows twice as fast as the rest of them now.

Leave it alone. Drilling a hole in it could cause an infection. You probably will loose your toe nail but let it come off on it's own. If it raises up and starts to come off keep a loose bandage on it so it doesn't get ripped off. If there is a great deal of pain and pressure have a doc look at it.

I banged my toe really hard last summer, too, and the nail came off after a couple of days. I didn't know they could do that! It has taken a long time to grow back and look normal, almost a year, but I think I will be able to wear sandals this summer. The pain goes away fairly quickly, but is sure looks ugly for a while.

Put a bandage on it and wrap it firmly but not tightly with gauze. I've had this happen to me more than a few times, and the drilling to relieve the pressure and bandaging it up works well. Don't do the ice and heat thing that your dad suggested. Also, if you have some antibacterial gel then put some on the toe before bandaging it.

oohh sounds painful. i'd suggest putting ice on it to bring down the swelling then wrap a bandaid around your toe (keep one on there all the time) and wait for it to heal. let the nail fall off on its own. it will grow back eventually. put some cream on it so that it doesn't get infected and don't mess with it.

It will keep growing out and finally fall off. It should take about 6 months for the new one to fully grow back.

Been there and done that twice.

Take plenty of vitamins to improve and speed the growth.

keep a shoe off for one or 2 days, period. if u have to have one for your competition or whatever, then just put a light wrap on it, in case it bleeds, but not tight, or tight inside the shoe. then after the competition, take your shoe off for 1-2 days!! the nail will probably fall off itself, or if not attached (almost gone).. just take it off. if it hurts to pull it then stop.
after u get it off, give it one full day to recover. clean it and elevate it a little. take the day off and rest.
