I have always wanted to make my parents proud of me, especially my dad. I dont get to see my dad that often so every moment i spend with him is precious and important to me. I was recently talking to him about what i wanted to do when i get older. I told him that i really wanted to work with dolphins, orcas, and other sea animals. Science is not my best subject, but its not my worst either. When i told him that, he looked at me and said you better rethink that. I asked why and he said because your not good at science and this is life and reality. He basically told me i couldnt do this. Then he tried to cover it up by saying not to crush your dream or anything. I realize that not everyone's dreams come true, but everyone has a shot to make them come true. I want this but now im let down by the one person i want to be proud of me. Should i do it and prove him wrong or should I give up??? Im really hurt by this. Look, dont base your life on trying to make anyone else happy or else you, yourself will never be happy, your life is your own not anyone else's and you are entitled to live it the way you please. If you spend so much time trying to please everybody your not going to have time to please yourself and then before you know it your not going to be happy, nad your gonna wonder what it's like to do something for yourself. It's not being selfish, if you want to study marine biology go for that's where your heart is it seems like, dont let anyone stop you!!! GOOD LUCK

I came home one day and told my dad i wanted to be an artist! I still havent heard the end of it... im now in the fashion world and use all my talents differently.
He crushed me tought! So if its is what you want and you are gonna be the best you can do what you want.
He cant be mad unless you are hurting yourself or someone else~!!!!
Give it time!! look more into it!

Everyone including parents have that foot in mouth syndrome sometimes. Even if he thinks you may not be good at it he should always back you. Parents should stand behind their children even if they want to join a circus. Which to me is not bad either. Go for it have no regrets in life.

If you really want this give it a try. I mean if you give it your all and you fail then at least you will know that it was not meant to be. If you don't try you will never know. How would you like to go through your whole life wondering what if?

Your father was not saying this to hurt you. I think he is trying to protect you. He knows your weakness and fears that the job you are seeking is not good for you but that does not mean you cant go for it. I personally think you can do it. You seem to have compasion in you for what i read. Try it, what do you have to loose.
