He currently is third in the all-time home-run list with 714. He is considered 1 of the greatest baseball players of all time. He was a pitcher and an outfielder. Actually, the candy bar is named after Teddy Roosevelt's daughter Ruth.
As for George Herman "Babe" Ruth, every baseball fan should know who he is. Even the Japanese during WW2 when their war cry of "To hell with Babe Ruth" was shouted as they charged the Americans.
Babe Ruth played with the minor league Baltimore Orioles, signed by the Boston Red Sox, sold to the New York Yankees, and then retired with the Boston Braves.
He was a starting pitcher and an outfielder who hit 714 home runs.

I found out who Babe Ruth was when i was like 9 years old. If they are like 10 and over, and they still dont know who the Babe is, then they must have grown up in a barn.

How can you not know who Babe Ruth is if you're an American? He was arguable the greatest baseball player ever. Even though he was an outfielder, look at his pitching stats:
Wins: 94
Losses: 46
ERA: 2.28
Now Look at his Batting Stats:
Runs: 2174
Hits: 2873
Home Runs: 714
RBI's: 2213
Stolen Bases : 123
Nobody has those stats today. Your friends have insulted baseball by not knowing who they are. Babe Ruth, the Man who Built Yankee Stadium.

First off the candy bar was not named after the great bambino. But I'm on the same page. He is only the greatest player to ever play the sport. If they don't know who he is throw some book about him at them.

Babe Ruth was a tremendous pitcher for the Red Sox. After leaving the Sox, everything gets a little fuzzy...

He was born George Herman Ruth and was an orphan in Baltimore. I read a book on him in grade school back in 1972. He was a terrific pitcher. One of the greatest baseball players of all-time.

If you know baseball, you know Babe Ruth. If you've only heard of baseball, then you might still know Babe Ruth. If you've never heard of baseball before in your life, then I could understand why you would've never known or heard Babe Ruth's name.
