My little niece was fed 2 tablespoons of rice cereal in her bottle everytime, and man, that baby slept so soundly b/c she was freaking full. I think the reason most babies don't sleep very long is because the milk bottle only is simply not enough. Plus, she grew like a little weed.

Yes. (bring on the negative ratings.....)
My daughter started sleeping through the night on her own when she was 8 weeks. I asked her doctor about giving her cereal at night and in the morning, and she said it was okay. But plain rice cereal only. And only in the first and last bottle of the day.
I now have a happy, healthy 11 month old with no food allergies, good weight (65th percentile), active, and just right for her age.....who has been sleeping through the night this entire time.
Every doctor will tell you something different. You have to decide what is best for YOUR baby.

If she is eating eight ounce bottles and then still seems hungry then I would say yes. My three children could never wait the reccommended four to six months. I think that they would have been starving, and super crabby by then! I fed my first at three months, my second at two months, and my third at about six weeks and they are all healthy and fine. I had big babies though, and the bigger the baby, the hungrier they are, and the earlier they need food.

Is she eating 32oz of formula in a day?
Did she look up at you and say "Mom I'm hungry"?
It is common for parents to UNDERFEED formula fed babies because it is expensive, or they are just not informed. 2-3.5 oz of formula, per lbs of bodyweight, per day is considered normal. Generally they say to a maximum of 32 oz, but some babies need more than that, particularly during growth spurts. Unless your doctor tells you otherwise you should feed on demand -that means AS MUCH as OFTEN as your baby wants. If she is hungry GIVE MORE FORMULA
So a 10 lbs baby needs 20-32oz per day.
Babies are FREQUENTLY cranky in the evenings IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HUNGER.
Cereal carries SERIOUS risks, both now and in the future. Malnutrition, choking, illness. Future obesity, diabetes. Etc.

No, she is too young to digest cereal. First of all, if you think she's still hungry, give her more formula! Second, babies cry for more than hunger--sometimes they just want to continue to suck, even though their tummy is full. You might try a pacifier. At her age I would expect her to be having a six ounce bottle 4-6 times a day.

I bet an elder told you that, my mom and nan both said that and no its a very bad idea, i have 4 kids ages 5 4 3 and 4 months and Ive just started him on pablum now. Studies even show its best to wait until 6 months of age but i didnt because of signs. If your son/daughter is holding their head up all the time unsupported and will open their mouth for food then its the right time. WARNING: If you do it too early pablum can trickle down their wind pipe cause seriouse damage. Scary stuff your baby will survive.. no rush hun. good luck

She's too young for cereal. She can have some serious allergic reactions if you give her something she shouldn't have at this age. Make sure you're feeding her regularly, and if she is fussy after-don't assume it's hunger-do you burp her after every feeding? What size bottles are you giving her? Maybe she needs more formula less frequently.

From what I understand that is a huge no no. The way my Dr explained babies need to learn how to be full based on normal eating patterns. Adding calories or a filler creates an invalid feeling of full and they don't learn correctly which he said can lead to obesity.
Here are a few links. Not sure if you have read them or not. They give some good info on starting solids.

Are you sure she is hungry and not bored. Sometimes it seems like the same cry. My boys always seem hungry still at 8 mos and if I keep feeding them they spit so we stick to a schedule and they are so much happier.

Absolutely! OR, you can spoon feed the baby and let the baby have the whole bottle of formula. Start out with just a little bit (1 tablespoon) thin like water almost, to make sure she can hold it down. The best times are what you said...especially if YOU want a good night sleep. You are very smart to realize your infant is hungry. So, do it and then just remember to tell the pediatrician.
