help understandin a pregnancy test result?

this is kinda complicated, after havin my son dec 05 i had the contraceptive injection and i was due to have again in april 06 but i neva went coz we wanted try for another baby, then i didnt have a period for 6 months and then when i did have a period they were kinda messed up sometimes i wouldnt have 1 for 2 months or id have 2 in one month. my last period though however was ontime. my last period was 24th feb and i just took a p test just messin around not knowin what i actually wanted to find out. anyway i followed the instructions and i have a strange result. i can c the test line as a bold pink line the rest of the visual area where the pinkness is is still a faint light pink but where the pregnant line is its white, kinda confused coz it is showing a line where the pregnant line is its just white and not pink, but is only showing white coz the background area is pinky, does this mean im preg or not or will i need to wait a couple of weeks and do another test.

It sounds like you have a complicated test. You should just use a test with a neg/plus or one line neg - two line positive. That will give you a much clearer line.
However it does sound as though you are pregnant, so suggest really testing again. And use the first morning urine so you will get the HIGHEST level of HCG.

You will need to take another test. The line you describe sounds rather like an 'evaporation line' which appears becuase of the fluid which has passed through the test stick. These lines are often a 'ghost' of a line and are white or greyish in colour and not the pink or blue of the test. They usually appear when the test has been left a while and then the result read, but not always the case. On the other hand if all the background went pink too the test could be faulty, in which case on both accounts I dont think you can take this result as being accurate.
I wouldnt like to guess at whether you are indeed pregnant or not but without getting your hopes up I would re-test simply on your first instinct to test in the first place plus the test you took not being helpfull at all. Becuase your periods have been irregular, wait to re-test so you can rule out testing too early - wait the your longest known cycle in number of days and then try a different brand. Alternatively, your doctor can always carry out a blood test which are more sensitive and can detect pregnancy shortly after conception.

No, not pregnant. Keep in mind that after you pee on the stick, looking at it after fifteen minutes can give you a false positive because most tests show a faint line after that amount of time. If you were pregnant, it would show a pink line after 1-3 minutes.

its very hard to give you an answer to this as different brands of pregnancy tests have different coloured lines, how many lines try getting a first response pregnancy test and if you are going off your last period you would only be around 2 and a half weeks pregnant don't think it would show positive just yet

OK I kinda had a hard time understanding exactly what the test looked like, but did you pee on it to much? You aren't supposed to pee on it for very long and secondly did you leave it on a flat surface or just hold it at an angle. I would suggest taking another pregnancy test just to make sure! If you're trying to get 2 PINK lines, and you only have one, you're not pregnant.

You're overanalyzing the test.

Or, you can wait 2 more weeks, and retest, with an EASIER CLEARER TEST.

Hmmm....I certainly think you should take another test to confirm it....or you could go to a chemist and they can perform a pregnancy test for you, and they'll tell you one way or the other.......sounds like congratulations are in order!!!!

i would wait and re test until your missed period a pregnancy test can not tell you this early wait and get a first response test to know 5 days sooner

if there is even a tinge of pink on the other line you are pregnant. if not take another test.
