Town Police require a GED. State Troopers require some college work.
Your base starting pay is dependant upon how you placed in the enrollment class + any schooling.
If you want to go beyond an officer, for example, a detective, you are required to have a degree, and must have a certain GPA - I want to say 2.75.
Good luck!

It depends on what sort of police work you want to do. If you want to be your basic cop, you need to finish high school and then go on to do training. You probably won't progress much beyond a constable. If you want to be a higher level police officer, such as a sergeant or inspector, you need to go to university to study criminal justice or the like.
Of course physical fitness and no criminal record are a must.

Generally, they require a Bachelor's degree - or at least that is what the official job requirements will say. However, as with many things, it's who you know - meaning that even though officially it may say you need the degree, you may be able to bypass that if you have something they need or know someone already in the force that can vouch for you and "pull" you in.

relies upon upon the dep.. case in point, my branch calls for you to have a minimum of a 2 year degree, or defense force journey. yet the dep. next to me calls for that you basically have a clean history. And yet the dep. on the different area of me calls for a 4 year degree. you in undemanding words want a GED in order to develop into qualified by ability of the state, yet a school degree will provide you a leg up on others at the same time as attempting to get the job, or get the promoting.
