The average annual salary reported by the NBA is $5.2m. I believe this to be the mean salary of active players (add up all the salaries and divide by the number of active players).
There around 100 players who earned salaries last year but are no longer active (retired, injured or waived). If you include those players the average salary is around $4m.
These figures are distorted by the small number of players earning very large salaries. Less than 50 players earn more than $10m per year and less than 100 earn $5-10m.
If you are talking about the average player then the median is a more appropriate measure. The median salary is around $2.5m (half the players in the NBA earn more than $2.5m and the other half less).
Somebody mentioned endorsements but for the average player this is nothing. Only the biggest superstars earn significant amounts from endorsements.

it depends on the player and the amount of experience a player has. for example. a player with less then 10 years could get a minimum salary starting around 700-800 thousand. an experienced player with 10 or more years could get a minium of about 1.1 million.
