Just forget it, I know it's hard but it's over and it's has no potential to hurt you. PLEASE, for your own sanity, let it go. The haters will hate, the lovers will love. Surround yourself with the lovers, and try your darnedest to ignore the haters.

The downside of electronic communication is you can't guage a person's sincerity or honesty by the usual pointers - body language, and soforth. As much as I enjoy my communication with online friends, I don't share anything I would rather keep in confidence, and though I'd expect better of them than for them to spread lies, I wouldn't put so much stock in an online network that my life would be radically effected by any lies that did come out. That said, you're well within your rights to confront the liar and do such as you can to set right any trouble that person has caused. It's not a nice position to be put in, but don't feel guilty about doing the right thing.

I'm guessing that this isn't merely a hypothetical question.
It's a difficult situation. Are others being hurt by the lies? That's one thing I'd ask myself. If not, I'd let it go. If they are, maybe you do need to step in to protect them.
That's the kind of thing where there is no clear-cut answer and no matter what you choose, people are going to second-guess your decision.
Good luck with however it goes.

I would want to know, but being around some of the things and people I've been around in the past, I learned that you can never really tell what's what with some people. It's like one big gossip ring over there sometimes, and I've learned to go with my instincts...it's worked pretty well so far. And...ya know...."Everybody lies"
(That's Dr. House talking, I couldn't resist...)
*sigh*.....

Hmmm - it depends on whether the kingdom of lies will impact others lives. If not, I would let them get caught in their lies on their own.

No, I think it would be the right thing to do, nobody likes liars, and they need to know that what they are doing is wrong, just my opinion.
