It could be a vaccuum hose, If it isn't running well since the noise started, I'd check that.. Usually cheap to fix. I had my catilytic converter block up and it started blowing exhaust out my flange gaskets making an odd wind noise like a cold power steering pump.

Sounds like you have a vacuum hose broke or loose open the hood with car running follow the sound till you find the leak you can feel the hose sucking air repace the hose.

check your vacuum lines, make sure your air cleaner is fastened in properly
