Is it me, or is it just an excuse for has-been "celebrities" to parade their wares on the BBC for free, for a whole evening?

This "good cause" thing doesn't wash, either; it's just an excuse for people to feel good about themselves (for "giving").

I agree with the person who said that it should be called "Red Nose Month" and that it seems to be getting like Christmas.
Personally, the biggest turn-off about the whole thing is Lenny Henry. I simply can't STAND him and nobody makes me grab the remote control faster than him to change channels or turn the TV off.
As for the good cause bit - too late, I've been bled dry by all the other "good causes" such as Dancing on Ice, Celebrity this and that etc., all to find that we were being conned by them too.
Nah - time to call it a day I think.

Come on, we have to provide work for disadvantaged TV presenters like Patrick Kielty. And how else are Girls Aloud and the Sugababes going to justify MURDERING Walk This Way by Aerosmith and Run DMC?

But seriously though, Comic Relief does raise a lot of money and do good work with it. I see the celebrity stuff as a necessary evil to make sure that the money is raised.

Completely agree with you. Celebrities only do this kind of thing because caring sells! Plus why buy a red nose? By the time you take in to account the production, transport and labour costs. It actually works out that only a tiny fraction of the price of a red nose goes to charity. So instead of buying one, why not just donate the money directly?

it is a good cause but i must agree with you that it does go on a bit.

also, if it's such a good cause why don't all these celebs give a 10% donation of their years earnings, that would probably be more than is raised anyway and we could have an evening of decent telly!!

they should have a list of 10 films and we all vote for which one we want to watch. the one with the most votes gets screened and the money raised goes to the charity.

Yes! I was going to post a question along the same lines myself, but you've said it all! 'Shite TV all evening whilst D list hasbeens try to kick start their comeback by presenting dire emotional blackmail' Day, it should be called!

The Tooting Popular Front should do something about it!

how can you say that do you know how many deprived children this day helps not to mention the starving. i do agree that it should not just be 1 day in the year and that the amount of money so called celebs and footie players are on there should not be any children living on the streets abused and neglected they should all be made to donate a % of there income to these causes.
