Getting blood to the scar site is helpful. Blood carries healing oxygen and nutrients. Massage the scar carefully with clean hands a few times a day. Picture the area in your mind with no scar and expect to see it that way in the future.
Use only a fine quality scar care cream for your face. Many brands available at fine skin care salons and online. Can be found on ebay. They can be expensive, but a small price to pay to avoid a scar on your face.
Use Neosporin and keep it covered until the wound is healed, then start with a good scar cream twice a day.
I've never tried this one, but found it on ebay for you:

There is a new fantasick product out called Mederma! It is supposed to cut back on scarring! Also I am going to P.T. three times a week because I had surgery. My therapist massages my scar up and down then gently pulls it from side to side. luckily I have had my scar be reduced at least by 50%.

After the cut has healed, there are some products you can use, Like mederma. When you go to the doctor to get the stitches out, ask about it.

Be sure to bandage your stitches at all times under the sun, apply Vitamin E lotion for your skin. Honestly, just make sure you don't get sun on it, thats what creates the scarring.

After it heals, apply a lip balm with a sunscreen and vitamin e. There are some out there. Maybe Burt's Bee's brand?
