I'm currently a desktop publisher at a Commercial Real Estate brokerage, but was wondering what other options there are with my background. I have a degree in Communication, minored in Literature, and a dream job would be to write and/or edit. What options other than being a starving artist are there?

Here's some ideas from the US Dept of Labor:

About one-half of the salaried jobs for writers and editors were in the information sector, which includes:
*newspaper, periodical, book, and directory publishers;
*radio and television broadcasting;
*software publishers;
*motion picture and sound-recording industries;
*Internet service providers, Web search portals, and data-processing services; and
*Internet publishing and broadcasting

Substantial numbers of editors and writers also work in advertising, computer systems design, and public and private educational services. Other salaried writers and editors work in computer and electronic product manufacturing; government agencies; religious organizations; and business, professional, labor, political, and similar organizations.

Good luck!
