Choccy is right, there are 9 counties in the province of Ulster, however 6 of those are part of the UK.(Northern Ireland)
There are 4 provinces in Ireland, just thought I throw that in, Leinster, Conaught, Munster and Ulster, and there are 32 counties in Ireland. 26 in the republic and 6 in the North...but I get the feeling you know that already

I know everyone told you nine but just to clarify Ulster is a province (general area for example) in Ireland. In the provinces, 6 Countys belong to U.K and 3 To the Republic, The other provinces are Munster Leinster And Connaught There are 4 Pretty much North South East And West
