It used to be bright. Now it turned dim and when I unplug the power cable it gets bright again. Is there a setting to fix this to adjust the brightness?

there are several ways and you can check each one to see the settings.
first there is usually a brightness control on your keyboard. usually fn up and down or page up and down.
if you right click on the desktop and go into settings, then go to settings and advanced. you can often change the settings for your video card.
if these don't get what you want, the LAST thing to try is the bios settings. they often have a power setting that limits the brightness. i say do this one last as any mess up in the bios and you may be reloading everything on your computer.
