They have no common sense. The break into medical laboratories. They throw paint on those wearing fur. It's ridiculous. Leave your objections to verbal. You could consider some of them eco-terrorists. Another point to make is that the group is hypocritical. They euthanize more animals than they save every year. They seem to love animals so much. What's next, the People for Ethical Treatment of Plants?

I don't hate 'em but they have a militant side i cannot in good conscience support. They are not completely militant though, and I think they have gone a long way to distance themselves from fanatics and violent groups - but the stigma of radicalism is still there so I remain wary of them. For the most part the Humane Society (considered too tame by many PETA advocates) has a better approach. If there was a center between them, I think animal rights would benefit greatly. Therefore, I don't hate 'em and generally support them when they do specific things that are not related to violence or bullying.

That is one woman who uses medication. One person shouldn't discredit a whole organization. They have already created insulin for diabetics in the past, probably even before she got diabetes. The only effective testing on animals comes from diseases and conditions that animals can get naturally, like diabetes. They are trying to put breast cancer in animals, something that could never happen naturally, so it has different outcomes. They just tested a drug that was completely fine on animals but had devastating effects on humans, there have been several drugs released to market that were safe on animals but not on humans,to be released into market a drug ONLy has to be safe on animals, not humans, this is the most recent case( http://youtube.com/watch?v=RUSfzU-TvcU).most successes in medical medicines have come epidemology, thye study of diffeerent lifestyles.Doctors thought ciggarettes were safe, because rats can't get lung cancer, but after ciggarettes were released people started developing it,they learned it because they studied people's lifestyles, the people who smoked were the people developing lung cancer.Animal testing has resulted in some successes in the past, but it is no longer needed. There are plenty of alternatives(http://altweb.jhsph.edu/). PETA has done alot for animal rights movement, they show people what factory farms are, they expose people to stuff they would not know about. They have good intentions, but I don't support everything they do.they have girls going naked rather than wear fur, they have makeout to tours to prove that veggies are better lovers, they say milk is better than beer, but it is for a good cause and what they believe in.I know PETA kills animals, but they will save more animals in the future by getting people to be vegetarians than they would by keeping dogs and cats alive.PETA does alot even though they aren't perfect.I'm against animal cruelty, and if you aren't part of the solution then you are part of the problem,PETA is trying to stop animal cruelty, evev though they do have extreme and radical views/methods.PETA has done more for animals rights/welfare than any other organization. No other organiztaions could take on Mcdonald's,KFC,Ralph Lauren, etc, they have done alot, they aren't perfect.

Because they're total hypocrites.
Animal rights zealots turning a blind eye to science is nothing new, even though they benefit just like the rest of us. PETA vice president Mary Beth Sweetland has diabetes and injects herself daily with insulin that was tested on animals. Yet she campaigns against experiments on animals -- making her a veritable poster-child for hypocrisy. She concedes that her medicine "still contains some animal products -- and I have no qualms about it ... I don't see myself as a hypocrite. I need my life to fight for the rights of animals."

To clarify, I hate the org itself, not the misguided people who work for it.

I despise the fact that allthough they are for animals, they are against American Pit Bull Terrier's and support banning the breed. As if we didn't have enough people against us.
Also, animals fall below us on the food chain, they are not mad at birds for eating worms are they?

Because they have good ideas but they can't find a way to be cool about it.
Why does morality always have to seem so tiresome and annoying? Why can't they make animal protection hip and charming?
They need some image consultants. Somebody who can convince people that fur is tacky and morbid, for example. The whole red-paint-and-models bit isn't doing the trick.

They think it is ok to use violence to advocate their point. Picket signs are one thing but throwing paint on people is quite another. Groups such as that tend to find people which like to gravitate towards radical behavior. I give my support to the ASPCA... at least they know how to protect animals.

I don't . I like Pita bread, I like animals, I don't like animals to be abused. I also like to eat animals but I don't think they should be abused, especially dogs and cats
