Yes. In Australia in the 1970s we had free university (Thanks to Gough Whitlam, our Prime Minister of the time and one of our best P.Ms ever) and it was great. The stupid Liberal Party stopped this because I guess they think that only people with money should be allowed to further their education. I think it should be free or much much cheaper so that everyone has a fair shot at going. That way you don't get dumb rich kids who have just paid their way in. And smart poor kids have an opportunity to better their situation.

Honestly, I don't think so. I do think that the government should give more aid to the people who really want to go. But to make it all FREE would really flood the work place, lower the standard of education (from people who don't really want to be there but take up space) and then the wages would go way down I think. Most people who really want to go to school but can't afford it are eligible for pell grants, which help a lot. Trust me I know.

Although we'd all love that, college costs tons for a reason-you have to maintain the facilities, pay professors (that's why some colleges cost more-they can afford to pay better teachers), etc. Meaning, that for every graduating senior in the US that'd put about $20,000 more strain on the taxes, causing a spike. No, I think it's better the way it is.

No...we cant take care of our public schools now...the last thing the the country needs is the federal government running our higher education system as well...there is a reason that we have the best universities in the world, and the reason isn't in spite of federal intervention...

No, there is nothing free. If it does not cost the student then everyone else pays for it. It is a benefit to society to have an educated population, however, I worked and went to school, and anyone can do it if they prioritize.

I hope you realize that it cost me over $1100 for tuition this semester. I paid that myself and now everyone else going to college can do the same.

No, and my reasoning is entirely selfish.

I had to pay to go to college, I don't want to have to pay for everyone else to go for free now.
