Turn yourself in to the local authorities, drop to your knees and throw yourself on the mercy of the court. Apologize profusely that you have broken such an important law which sustains the pillars of our civilization. Maybe you can explain it on the grounds of temporary insanity saying that you are the only person in our society who is not drugged under Prozac or Lexapro. You will consult a psychiatrist immediately so that you too can become a drone. Explain that you realize that the Egyptian and Roman Empires lasted for centuries and remained strong becuase they did not even have mattesses that people could tear the tags off of.

You should be totally ashamed of yourself . . . because you obviously did not read the entire tag before you ripped it up and threw it away. Unless you are a retailer, you can remove all the tags you want.

Read the tag. It says "except by Consumer".

The tag cannot be removed by wholesalers or retailers. What you do with your own property as a private person is up to you.
