Amityville Horror is supposedly based on the actual events of a young family who have just moved into a "haunted house." The truth is before the Lutz family lived there, a man named DaFeo murdered his entire family. That's where it gets weird, and open for speculation. The Lutz family move in, and allegedly began encountering voices, poltergeists, even a red-eyed pig named Jodie. This is the point they fled the house after living there only a few weeks. They wrote a bestselling book, and later sold the rights to Hollywood. Many people believe the whole story was fabricated for their own benefit. The Lutzes maintain their stories to this day. Either way, this story is intriguing and indeed creepy. But my own opinion is that most if not all of the facts have been fabricated.

Do you mean..Amityville Horror?? If so then it is supposed to be based on a true story. I doubt that some of the stuff in the movie actually happened because movies tend to sensationalize and over dramatize everything. But, there was something that happened to people that lived in that house. The is said to still be standing, though no one lives in it and I doubt any will ever again. I wouldn't buy it.

Yes it's real.

As a mater of fact was a show on TV on Saturday about that.

There are some Holywood enhancements in the movie of course. Here's what i Got out of the show this weeken.

The Priest did swear to the fact this place was messed up and was chased out of the house by violent forces/voices.

One of the police photos of the crime scene actualy have a clear image of one of the deceased children in an upper hall doorway.

The flies scene was holywoodized. The flies were actually present in the room at all hours.

That's enough this crap creeps me out !!!

A man murdered his family, and was insane. I think he said the house was haunted and it cause him to do it, anyway the first movie, from the late 70;s used his a picture of his house as the House (with some adjustment) He just gave an inview for the first time, early this year.

The events did happen and the family that was involved did market their experiences to the media. But it has been proven that a majority of the stories were made up for profit. The family that lives in the house now have reported nothing unusual.

No, "The Amityville Horror" is not real. There was a man who murdered his family there in the 70s, but that's the extent of it. The Lutz family haunting was a hoax to sell books.

Yes. I grew up on Long Island, where "Anyville" is and I can tell you that many houses there have openings to hell in their basements. It's a real problem when you are trying to sell. Lots of lawsuits over it. Worse than radon and black mold combined. Really.

The movie and the book are true to a point. Some of it is fictional but not all of it.
