Many of the old Roman laws have come down to us through the centuries.While they have changed their influence can still be seen.They had a variety of courts and roman citizens were entitled to seek representation and had advocates.Every
Roman citizen charged with an offence had the right to face his accusers in court.When the U.S.was set up as a republic a lot of its practices and methods were modeled on the old Roman republic.Look up ancient Rome on the internet.There is lots of things there.

Our legal system is based on Roman law, specifically the Corpus Juris Civilis of Justinian. The ignorant fundies lie through their teeth when they pretend that it's the Mosaic Ten Commandments.

We still use the Julian calendar based on Julius Cesar...

Also, since you are a Jesus fan.... they are the ones that killed him and then took his teachings and founded the holy roman church with the vatican (also in Rome) as its control center.
