If you've taken your pill properly-that means every day at the same time for 21 days, without missing pills, without taking medications that can interfere with how the pill works, and so on, you're no more at risk for pregnancy during the inactive pill or no pill week than you are during the rest of the pack.
The pill works in three ways. It suppresses ovulation-no ovulation means no egg, means nothing to fertilize, means no pregnancy. It also thickens the mucous at the cervix making it really hard for sperm to even get through to even try and fertilize an egg, and it thins the lining of the uterus, making it a very bad place for an egg to try and implant.
The pill, when taken correctly is a very reliable method of birth control. It is important, however, to be sure you're taking it correctly to get the maximum benefit.

No. Unless you missed some of the other pills or took them late or had to double up. If you've taken the pills perfectly, then you only have a 1% chance of becoming pregnant.

I don't like this question because I am possibly facing this nightmare right now with my fiance'. My period is very light and spotty and we are both about to have an aneurysm. I have taken all my pills on time and not missed a single day, but we had sex on a day that swear I felt myself ovulate later. (Could be my mind, but it's still scary.) We are definitely not ready, but if we are expecting a baby, then I guess we'll definitely have to put things in hyperdrive.

The pills are not designed to just prevent pregnancy the day they are taken, but a month-long protection. Ovulation is suppressed which prevents pregnancy. Taken correctly, they are about 99% effective.

It depends on when you ovulate, but yes, you can. Sperm can survive for 3-5 days after you have sex and you could ovulate within that time and become pregnant.
