Dells are great computers. I have a 6-year old dell laptop that works great. My wife has a newer model. They are good machines, reliable, and dell has great coupons.
Find the latest coupons at http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html
Good luck.

The best deal is always to build your own computer. Find someone you trust and knows computer and build it from scratch. You will save a bunch that way, and you get it the way you want without paying rip-off prices. If you don't care about what's in it or the graphics performance then it's easier to do... just make sure you have the parts and the nuts and bolts to put everything together... Sounds hard but it really isn't... Anyway, I wouldn't suggest any of those retail computers unless you really can't find someone who can buy those parts for you for cheaper and build it yourself.

Hi. You need to have an idea of what you want to do with it. Scrolling is not a very intense CPU activity, and the graphics card handles that. For browsing, almost any modern PC or MAC. For gaming, a more powerful (and expensive) machine.

Dell is totally okay for kids and housewives etc, I switched to mac after my first two PCs and I will never ever change back again, as it reveled a totally new world to me. Mac is best for Arts. My sister has a great Toshiba for a relatively low price that she uses for business, PowerPoint stuff etc, with two media player ( DVD player/burner), my sun plays on-line poker and stuff and collects music and he, as well as his friends love Acer....try to get a laptop no matter which one you decide for and ( you may want to try to use spellchecker before posting your messages, it's totally fabulous......but that's just me and I'm old fashioned when it comes to typos....:)

The Dell Dimension is not the best computer, but it is the best for a user like you. Choose it with 1GB RAM, with a floppy drive, and windows vista, and it will work perfectly.

Personally I don't really like Dell. I've got an HP and I'm extremely content with it.
