Most often it is because the grandparents are young themselves, and see this as a way of having more children. A sense of guilt, or responsibility, are also a few reasons. I honestly wonder at the logic of this, as the grandparents obviously haven't raised the teen parents all that well. Maybe they are hoping for a second chance to make it right?

Aside from the love that they likely feel for that child, I'm sure not many grandparents would like to see their grandchild raised in America's Foster System which is absolutely horrid. That is no life for a child.

because most early pregnancy is in your teens. and sum teens aren't that responsible and so the grandparents take care of them until they're 18 and actually old enough to have kids

Hmmm, let's see. They raised kids who aren't capable of being good parents.

Guilt, maybe? A sense of responsibility?

Somebody has to do the right thing. If grandparents weren't good parents, then maybe they want to do the right thing in the next generation.

Because they care about the children having a loving, safe environment. They don't think forcing unwilling people into parenthood is a suitable punishment. Smart, since it is really the child who is punished- not the dead-beat parent.

Because they are about the right age to actually take care of their grandkids. Besides, most teenagers can't take care of their child, because of their responsibility issues.
