I always think of Nigel as quite an old fashioned nerdy name. The only kid I knew at school with that name was bullied horribly... which was real sad because he was actually very nice. The only famous person I can think of with the name is the classical violinist Nigel Kennedy. :-)

If you are thinking of calling your child Nigel then NOOOOO please don't. Nigel makes me think of complete dorks!! What if everybody else is as shallow as me and has this pre-conceived idea that Nigels are a bit soft in the head. The stereotype might stick and he could end up being a totally boring air fix model maker!!!!

I don't think Nigel will ever be that popular. I'm afraid it just conjures up an image of a geeky, wimpy little guy.
The only famous(ish) Nigel I can think of is Nigel Pivarro who used to be in Coronation Street. He was not geeky or wimpy but he was a bit of a creep.

I hope Nigel's not making a come back as that would mean that Jock would have to make a come back and we know all too well that nae the twain shall meet.

Last years debacle between Nigel and Jock was a classic on here.

LOL- NO..

But then.. I do like the classic names for irony.. Thinking of calling my kid Mavis - Honestly!!

When he's born.. look into his eyes- and if he looks like a Nigel- then he's a Nigel..

I would recommend home-schooling to combat bullying tho ;)
