sound like spyware I use firefox and don't get the pop up adverts get spybot search and destroy from here http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
and Ad-aware from here http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html one of them will get it

Most likely spyware. Try running Spybot Search & Destroy.

i used to use firefox, never had that problem, maybe you do have a virus or more than likely spyware, i suggest you run 'spybot' also 'adaware'
