oh, it depends on how i'm feeling and when the call is.... if i'm feeling spritely, it could be a good firm "hello?"... or if its somebody i know, its ususally a "hi!" and if is a strange phone call at a weird time... there's a long pause "............. ............. ............. ............. ........ hello?" as i've no idea who it is...

I've got caller display, so I answer the phone according to who is calling. If it says number witheld - I assume, rightly or wrongly, that its a sales call and don't answer. If its a number I don't know, I don't answer - my view is they can leave a message, other times I make my husband answer it and tell someone I've just got in the shower.
If I do answer the phone, depending on who is calling, I answer it with anything from Good afternoon, Kinky Katie's massage parlour to 'You're through to the psychiatric hotline, if you're paranoid, we know who you are and what you want, to be returned to the mother ship, press button nine'....blah blah blah...
At work, I'm totally professional though ;-)

hello usually, if my husband comes up on the display, I say hello babe but this is no word of a lie I was watching a rerun of keeping up appearences earlier when the phone rang and I answered saying the bouquet and then I managed to stop myself luckily it was a friend
