I am 498,620,220 seconds old (roughly 16 yrs) as of 7:37 pm est.

The first thing that I did to figure out my age in second was to take the value 364.25 which is the length of a year X the 15 whole years, Ive been alive, X 24 hours in a day X 60 minutes in an hour X 60 seconds in a minute. This equals 472,068,000 seconds, however, that doesn't take into account the rest of the year.

I then add the other 307 days by multiplying 307 X 24 X 60 X 60, which equals 26,524,800 seconds, which I added to my first value.

Next, I add the other 7 hours by multiplying 7 X 60 X 60, which equals 25, 200, which is in turn added to the previous amount.

Lastly, I added the 37 minutes by multiplying 37 X 60, which equaled 2, 220, which I added to get my grand total.

I don't carry this figure in my head, because it needs updating so often. Mine would be only approximate, as I don't know the exact time of my birth. Nevertheless, it's a cunning way to ask my age. You can easily find your own value to within a day by subtracting one Julian Date Number from another. There is a calculator to work these numbers out on the web. If you know the necessary times, it will handle those as well.
