Ok. I may be slow on the uptake - but who is Top Gears' The Stig'?

i think there has been many stigs. The first was meant to be a scandinavian world motor car champion, he retired so they hired other people.
I have a sneeky feeling it's someone famous - ex F1

It is me! I am Stig! It was my nickname at school. I was called this because me and my friends were well into Monty Python at the time and they named me after "Stig O'Tracy", a character from one of the sketches. Hurrah! I've been found!

the original Stig was ex-F1 racing driver Perry McCarthy.He let out the secret in his auto biography & got sacked.But i think he's got re-hired again.

He is cast as a mysterious "tamed racing driver" whose identity is unknown, and who never speaks on camera. Nonetheless he is fully credited as a presenter alongside Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
