80 percent of the computer users on the net are totally virus illiterate! You dont NEED virus protection if you know where they come from! If you are gonna download every trinket and bauble on the net, you are gonna get infected!

It has nothing to do with AntiVirus wars. The fact is, some work better than others:
-Quicker and more frequent updates
-Better removal methods
-Less system intrusive
-Less resource hungry

While I agree that the number one method of reducing infection is to use common sense, sometimes it's just not possible to know if you will become infected. There isn't always a clear-cut sign saying "Hey, this is probably a freaking virus!!!".

Every now and then, some clever ****** has embedded script into a webpage or even an image that can maliciously attack your system. Unless you're extremely careful to the point where it's difficult to get anything done due to paranoia, then it's possible to get infected at some point (yes, that includes Mac and Linux users).

This is why we use AV utilities in the first place, because they help alleviate some of the worry and remove unwanted crap if it ever does get by us. Like I said, the fact is - some are better than others.

I use F-Secure Antivirus, which is not as complicated or annoying as Norton Antivirus. The program updates itself every hour and I pay for it once a year. I still open all my e-mails in my school e-mail box but don't open attachments unless I know the sender. Most of the time I copy the e-mail addresses and place them in my block list, so I don't have to see them again. Junk mail is a minor problem for me (10 unknown e-mails a day). My Yahoo e-mail is better managed, which I like. I also play computer games on the Internet at least once a day. Viruses and spyware are everywhere. It is best to have any possible protection.

You know what I think it is? I think that the people working for the anti-virus programs are the ones creating the virus'. And how eles would we be able to find out who is behind it anyways? See? It would be the perfect scam. And really, though, the only true way to not get virus' is to not have the internet. You have the internet, you open up a doorway for virus'. And it's true, you cannot trust anyone. I could have attached a virus to the message itself! Im just kidding, I hate virus' as much anyone eles. I would never attach a virus to ANYTHING.
