if their is a student in your class and she never answers question, and is always quiet to you, what is the first thing you assume about that person, and what kind of music do you think they like? and how do you think they act to other people other than teachers?
I know the smart answer would be that you couldnt tell what kind of music they listin to, but to your opinion, and I know you have one what kind of music do you think they listin to.

I never know why a kid is quiet or not, but I have never had a student I haven't been able to draw out some way before the year is out that I know what is going on with him or her. As for music tastes I never just think because a kid is quite I know what they like for music. I don't really care here if my answer here is the smart one or not - its mine.
good luck!!1

I was always the "quiet" kid in school. I was kinda shy, and for the most part did not like most of the kids at my school. Thats the part of the reason why I never raised my hand to answer questions. Just look at their body language, you can usually tell if they are shy, or mad, or wether they know the answer or not.
As far as the music question goes, you can never really tell.... maybe a little by how they dress( like t-shirts)... say if they wore boots all the time, might indicate they like country music.... or maybe by the stickers, or doodles on their notebooks.

The first thing that I assume is that I have to find a way to get to know her. Communication is a two way street... it's part of my job to figure out where she lives, so to speak. As for music... with one particular girl it was Blink-182, another it was a lot of indie music. Can't tell by looking... honest. By looking at me you would NEVER know the type of music I listen to.
The girls that I mentioned above were mostly quiet people, but once we got to know each other, I got to see how they were with others. To be honest, they were pretty much the same... still mostly quiet, but way more giggly and trusting. Trust takes time.

well.....lol! i am not a teacher but i am one of those kids that sits in class and never talks or answers questions. She is a conservative person, probably very chatty, but never in class. She is probably smarter than even the teacher, but she never shows it. The music she listens to....hmm.....thats a hard one....but in all honesty you could probably tell by what she dresses like....
The jeans and t shirt kinda girl would probably listen to rock and is a closet country lover, but the girl in the back of the class in all black and all dreary looking....shes probably a little on the artistic side and likes hard rock and a whole mix of things....
If you want her to perk up in class try to make her comfortable, try to friendly without being "the creepy teacher trying to hit on me" Don't worry too much about it unless she is doing horribly in class......just help her out a bit!

Automatically you think is she not engaged in this lesson? How can I change my style of teaching so that this student is engaged? Maybe she is just shy or maybe there are issues outside of the classroom that affects her behaviour?
As for music, I'm training to be a primary school teacher. Most Primary kids (elementry for USA) like pop music as they haven't been exposed to much else. How do you think they react? Well you generally know because you see these kids in the playground with other kids and you see them when their parents come to pick them up.

First, all kids answer questions in my class.--no free loaders. Next, their music choice is probably something different than most of the kids in the class listen to--this all depends.
They are probably very intelligent and reserved. Also, they probably are very nice kids that act respectfully to their teachers when one-on-one.
Good Luck....
