Homo sapiens

The anopholes mosquito, which carries the malaria plasmodium, continues to be the world's top killer of human beings.

The fleas of rats carried the bubonic plague bacteria, which killed off much of Europe. Interestingly enough, the largest mass extinction of human beings ever probably took place in the Western Hemisphere, where it is estimated that 90-95% of the population of Native Americans (then, numbering much more than Europe, Africa, and Asia combined!), were wiped out by a series of dieseases. The worst was called "cocolitzli", and may have been either a variety of smallpox, or a hemorrhagic fever, that now lies dormant waiting for another massive climate change to unleash it. Either way, rats and rodents would have been a carrier or vector for the disease.

I'm guessing that its homo sapiens themselves. If that reply is excluded, perhaps the mosquito could be a strong candidate. What I have greater difficulty deciding is whether such activity should be considered a service or a disservice to humanity as a whole. Were there never any world wars in Europe, what would be its population and what would be their condition. OK, I agree ... no fair answering a question with other questions.

Other humans -- Homo sapiens sapiens.

If you're asking about non-humans, and you're going to exclude bacteria and fungi, then it might be a toss-up between
The mosquito which carries the malaria protozoan
and
the flea that carries the plague organism.

Probably horses, considering everyone used to depend on them everywhere they turned. Getting kicked in the head, thrown, etc. would kill a lot of people over the years
