Alien is amazing but Aliens wins as it has the Queen, the loader, Newt and more importantly the immortal line "Stay away from her you B@%*#1!" Also Aliens more fimly establishes Ripley as a hero rather than an acidental survivor.

By the way, Hemmingways-folly is right, the Directors cut of III is like a different and totally brilliant film!

They were both good. However there was more storyline, depth and advanced plot structure to Aliens.

I couldn't identify as deeply with some of the characters in Alien (before they died soon afterwards). You didn't really get to know them as much before they died... just what they were sort of like.

It is more of an achievement of work to quickly give the marines their own distinct individual character with some depth, their open antagonism towards Ripley as a non-marine, Ripley's own struggle at wanting to convey the danger to everyone whilst being classed as a werido... another robot/humanoid that she couldn't know if could be trusted...and a sneaky money-merchant who was only interested in getting the Aliens dna for stuff back on earth for profit.

Added to which many scary(ish) situations in dealing with the Aliens throughtout the movie.

Tough call... haunted house in space or gung ho vietnam...in space.
Love them both (even like the third one after watching the director's cut in the quadrilogy set, no helping the fourth though)
They're both masterpieces of their respective genres.
Hate having to choose but will side with Aliens, it's the one I've watched most and is certainly the film responsible for the creation of the franchise (whether that was a good thing is debatable after Alien 4 and AvP)

Aliens wins for plot and character development, but Alien beats Aliens as a horror film.

I LOVE them both but I think Aliens just wins it for me mainly because I went to Alien Wars in Glasgow when the film first came out. They set up the inside of the ship and actually had the real alien costume from fox films. The alien then chased you through the ship in te pitch black. We had one marine leading us through and it was the most terrifying experience of my life - seriously, I shat me pants!!

I like the first Alien better.Seeing the Alien for the first time is far more shocking and scarier than seeing it for the second time, because you all ready know what it looks like.So I have to say Alien. It's still one of my favorite movies to this day!

Your a bloody maniac, heavily how can every physique have self assurance all this crap? as an occasion your bullshit with regard to the homo sapiens being 3 diverse species. there is easily no information to back this up, and human beings all have comparable DNA with purely little or no superficial transformations. attempting to call Africans as undeveloped, and whites and asians as being a million/2 alien super beings is racism at it rather is greater advantageous. turn off the background Channel youngster, too lots historical aliens for you.
