Well if it's a 3.3L it has a chain ( No adjustment ) so it must be a 3.5L and those have a auto tensioner. if the belt is loose it is either worn out almost to the point of breaking or the water pump bearings are bad ( happens a lot )....OR the tensioner pulley assembly is broken behind the timing belt cover ( happens a lot) . if you have never done a belt on a 3.5L like yours, have it TOWED to a repair shop to be done. or you may end up hurting it worse than it is now.

if you have a spring loaded tensioner it should adjust itself, if not you should only have a little bit of slack on the belt but not too loose.

I believe they have automatic tensioners. So repoace the tensioner when you replace the belt.

you loosen the tensioner,so you can twist the belt with your fingers,half way.then tighten the tensioner.
