Is it possible for a fanfiction to become an anime/manga?

Question

see, my very good friend wants her story to become a manga or an anime. I think it's great! But, her story is a fanfiction. The character Itachi from Naruto is in there. I told her that maybe she should change his name and stuff and THEN think about getting it turned into an anime and stuff. But I dunno if that will be enough...so she wanted me to ask all of you. Please help!

Well, she can always try to find a way to contact the Naruto makers and ask them if they can eventually make at least a filler episode like that... But that would be alot of work. I dont even know if they would except it since thier trying to follow the story line as much as possible. You can make it really good and make a doujinshi, a fan comic which you can sell on ebay and stuff. But if you do that, you have to make sure you go through it on the computer, bolding the lines and text, making it look as pro as possible. I dont think a whole manga would be a good option unless your friend has already gone through school on making mangas/comics or publishing or something. Good luck! she doesn't have to change the names or anything. Just tell her to label it as a Naruto Doujinshi. Japanese people write and draw them all the time for different series. You can even buy them online. The only thing is that it wouldn't really be called a manga - it would be called a Doujinshi. If she doesn't have a problem with that, then she's fine.
