About 8 months ago I was rear-ended and saw a doctor for neck pain. It still hasn't resolved and I want to go to a specialist, but will the car insurance people have issues with that and not reimburse me? I don't want to end up footing the bill in the end, but I am still in some pain! Is this reasonable?

Call your Auto ins. company first. Tell them what is happening, and tell them the case must be reopened.

Whiplash, which can be diagnosed by a Physician, can last for years, and may take months to really present all symptoms.

The person who rear ended you is responsible for your medical bills throught THEIR auto ins.

Again, call your ins. company.

I was in an auto accident before and got an attorney. You may qualify for some sort of monetary settlement (though it can take a few years til the case is settled). The fact that you were rear-ended seems to be pretty cut and dry that the accident was not your fault, however, please do consult with a lawyer that deals with personal injury cases. And please check the attorney out with the American Bar Association. I suppose that it also helps to go by word of mouth when in comes to obtaining the services of an attorney. Not all are created equal which is the same for doctors. The lawyer can act as sorta a case manager helping to deal with the auto insurance company to try to get reimbursement and even perhaps try to get approval for some physical therapy/PT (which need a referral from dr.).

I have neck and back problems and PT really helped me, namely water/aquatic therapy, gentle stretching, strengthening exercises and some manual therapy all advised and done by a physical therapist. If the dr thinks that you need an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of your neck to check for possible disk compression (which I have in neck and back) or an EMG (electromyography) to check for a pinched nerve, that will cost a lot of money. So please do consider shopping around for a lawyer. Some lawyers will offer a free consultation. Perhaps you can at least file for an appeal to try to get your medical bills paid for by PIP (personal injury protection) if you have it. Please do be proactive with your health and if you can get some compensation for your pain (thru a lawyer), why not.

It sounds like whip lash.

In 1981 a car T boned my little car and I got serious side ways whip lash. I still have damage from it.

Put heat and Ice on it. That will help with the pain in the muscles. Try Ibuprofen every 4 hours for the swelling and inflammation in the muscles. The Icy Hot patches are quite helpful.

I hate to give you bad news, but expect the pain to last a long time.

Don't be to nice about the situation. I wouldn't sign any paperwork until I'm fully recovered because you can some internal injuries. I would definitely get checked out as much as possible because you would have to live with the pain. The accident wasn't your fault so they need to accept full responsibility including your medical coverage for the accident. People try to take advantage of the situation that they caused so don't let them get away or else you would be forking $$$$ out of your pocket.

If that was 8 months ago and you're still in pain what are you doing? It's your health on the line, do you want to be incapacitated or be able to look after yourself? Would you rather strangers bathing you or doing that yourself? I think loosing some money would be worth it and then chase after the******* that wont pay up! Besides that's what lawyers are for. The only thing that's unreasonable is you, you are not thinking about your health if you don't look after yourself no-one else will. Look after number one (you) everything else will fall into place!
