No, because God didn't create the world.
Dinosaurs evolved. Became extinct. Were replaced as the dominant species by mammals, who also evolved, and a long way down the line, an ape stood up and humans came soon after.

Interesting suggestion, but a couple of things don't quite fit.
1. God is supposed to be all-powerful and all-knowing. Everything he does should be perfect from the first try. Such a god shouldn't need prototypes.
2. Dinosaurs only arrived more than 4 billion years after the beginning of the world. Although from our perspective they seem like an impossibly long time ago, in comparison to the whole history of the Earth they're relatively recent.

There were plenty of dominant species around before the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs were very successful. They existed for about 120 million years. Our lot have only been around about 8 million.
The Earth is about 4.5 thousand-million years old and life developed about 3/4 of the way through that so whether you believe in God or not there were plenty of prototypes before the dinos. Most of these died in a series of mass extinctions which have been documented in geological records.
If it wasn't for the mass extinction 65 million years ago the dinosaurs would probably still be ruling the planet today instead of evolving into birds.

Biologically speaking, a Tyrannosaurus was the perfect design for a large biped hunter/scavenger with slow, heavily armoured prey, just as the Crocodile is the perfect design for a quadruped, air-breathing saltwater or freshwater ambush hunter/scavenger. The crocodile still exists because its niche still exists. If pandas die out in the next century, that doesn't make them a prototype that failed and needs improving, merely a victim of their own specialisation in an ever-changing world.
Philosophically speaking, it is only our own self appointed sense of self importance that says we are the pinnacle of existence. We decided vast intellect was "better" than powered flight, echo location, single minded colony organisation, etc... and we were biassed in doing so.
From a theological perspective, a prototype would imply that God works by trial and error, and that he is slowly getting better at this. Given that most theologists will tell you that God is the definition of perfection, I doubt many will support the idea of a prototype.
So whichever way you look at it, I'd say no :)

Gee, what is a question like this doing in a Science forum? It needs to be in a Theology forum, or maybe a Screwball forum, since dinosaurs aren't mentioned in the Bible, which is a major thorn in the side of Creationists or Intelligent Designerists non-science ideology. Also, since the oldest fossils on the Earth are around 3 billion years old and the oldest dinosaurs are about 0.3 billion years old, dinosaurs developed in the last 10% of life's history on the Earth and could not be a prototype. One last thing, when you refer to God you should capitalize "He".

Oh please! If the Christian God is depicted as a Human Male then how can He be the God of Reptilians who where the Dominant force for 100's of Millions of years before Mammals even existed?
Evoloution is a fact.
Taken the creation theory in the Christian Concept, please explain how in 6 God days he created everything and how long is his day off? Also what about all the other beliefs in the world?

Who knows. By the way how do some of the people who answered know there is no God? All sorts of fantastically talented people down the ages have been trying to work this out without being able to do more than state their own belief, one way or the other. Are these people therefore unintelligent enough to be arrogant?

The Bible tells us that man was made in the image of God. God is therefore the prototype for man.

Of course not.
Dinosaurs were created on day 6 along with man.
There is abundant evidence that they have coexisted.
They used to be called dragons and there are accounts of them from all over the world. The Romans even made mosaics of them.
Lots of depictions here;

They certainly didn't die out millions of years ago - dino bones have even been found containing blood cells!
