Kilogram is a unit of mass not weight. That 40 kilogram barrel will be 40 kilograms whether on the earth, moon, or in space. Weight is relative to gravity (hence you weight more on earth than on the moon).
This is the only way i can see it to be a trick question.

Kilogram is a unit for MASS not Weight but it's used to say for example:"a 40 kilogram barrel" instead of" a 40 kilogram force barrel".
Weight=Mass*Gravity
your barrel's mass and earth's gravity are consonant so the barrel's weight is.

This is a simple trick question, its goal is obviously to distract your attention to the (non relevant ramp) if you are not sure of your information

If it was asked in imperial measure it would be the same number because pounds mass is defined by pounds force

its mass is 40kg not its weight
its weight on earth is mass * acceleration due to gravity which is 40*9.8= 392N
So you have been tricked. remember mass is measure in kilograms, grams, pounds, etc...and weight is measure in newtons!

It is a trick question. Unless they take the barrle to the outer parts of the atmosphere, it should weigh the same.
